Mrs. Riza T. De Villa – G9 Zamora Adviser
- Have you encountered someone experiencing stress and depression?
“Stress and depression kasi ay mabigat na word. Kumabaga it is a word to describe someone na may parang mental sickness and sa ngayon naman syempre I have my advising class, G9 Zamora, sila yung mga lumalapit sa akin to share their problems. Pero hindi yung sa depressed, siguro ay anxiety in which yun naman yung beginning ng pagiging stress or depressed ng isang tao”
- What are the sample problems that you have encountered with your students?
“ Hindi ko pwedeng sabihin yung mismong problem kasi confidentiality yun. Pero share ko na lang siguro kung ano yung nangyari. May isa akong naging student na nagkaron ng problem lalo na last year, 2017, maraming naglabasan na problem sa Grade 9 and yung problem na yun ay hindi kumalat. Ang tanging nakaalam lang nun ay ako at yung parents. Lumipas yung mga araw na namatay na lang yung issue nang hindi kumakalat. And ngayon ay happy na yung student na yun at first parang siguro ay nastress and anxiety sa kanya pero with the help of us, me as a teacher and yung parents nya, na overcome naman nya. ”
- As a teacher, specifically adviser, what are your advices to those students who approached you with regards to their problems?
“As an adviser kasi when their parents fail to listen to their child, nandito lang kami as a second parent to them. Kaya kapag yung student ko nalapit sa akin, I just listen and tell them na I’m just here beside them, na hindi ko siya or sila iiwan. And also, I tell them na there are a lot of people na nagcacare sa kanya, na there is always somebody na pwede mo iaapproach like friends, teachers and the likes.”
She added, “ I’ll share na lang din yung mga steps on how to approach someone who are experiencing stress and depression.
First, Kinukuha ang kalooban. Allow them to share their problems with you freely. Kasi when they feel comfortable with you makakapag-open siya sayo ng problem nya.
Second, All you can do is just to comment. You can’t give solutions naman eh only advices. Kasi for example, family problem, hindi ka pwedeng manghimasok basta basta kasi sa family yun kaya all you can do ay magbigay na lang ng advices. Kasi ang solution naman ay hindi materyal kaya I always tell them to pray, to have faith in the Lord and you’ll be saved. Never say na ‘huwag ka umiyak’ kasi they should freely express their feelings”
Before the interview ended, she left us with a message, “ There are no assurance to solve a problem. Be strong enough and be prayerful.”
Ms. Zena Grace Addacul – BTHS Guidance Counselor

- Have you encountered someone experiencing stress and depression?
“ Sa ngayon naman ay wala, wala naman kasing nalapit sa amin na nakakaencounter ng ganun. Dati ay meron yung isang student dito pero hindi rin naman nagtuloy kasi lumipat na siya ng ibang school and also parang dineretso na siya sa Regional Hospital.”
- What do you think is the reason why the students didn’t approach you office with regards to this problem?
“Siguro ay nahihiya na lumapit kasi pag pumunta sila dito they can see na maraming ginagawa. Also parang sa advicer sila nalapit and yung teacher naman ay hindi na ilalapit yun sa amin. Also, yung iba sa hospital na napunta or sa DSWD yun may nalapit din sa kanila.”
